2.0 box office collection crosses Rs 100 crore on opening day

uperstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar joined hands to star in India’s most expensive film, 2.0, that is in theatres this week. Directed by Shankar, the sci-fi film which has Amy Jackson as the female lead, released worldwide on November 29.

The film took a massive opening at the box office and earned over Rs 2 crore in Chennai alone on Day 1 of its release. According to the latest development, 2.0 has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark worldwide on its first day.

According to trade pundits, 2.0 still trails behind SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which made Rs 122 crore in India alone on the day of its release.

Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to reveal that the Hindi version of sci-fi film 2.0 has minted Rs 20.25 crore at the box office in India.

He wrote, “Non-holiday release… Non-festival period… Yet, #2Point0 takes a SUPER START… Keeping in mind the fact that it’s a dubbed film + advance bookings opened very late, the biz is STRONG… Thu ? 20.25 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version. (sic)”

According to critics, 2.0 is a visual extravaganza with incredible special effects that were on par with Hollywood standards. However, the story penned by filmmaker Shankar wasn’t up to the mark, some said.

2.0 imparts a universal message that the world is not just for humans but also for other living beings.
